iFixit Repair Guide

This simple repair and maintenance process for domestic refrigerators was published on iFixIt.

Project Description

iFixIt is an online database of information and repair instructions for devices. I wrote a repair guide for clearing ice frozen in the discharge chute of the ice dispenser, complete with photos and repair details.

Process

I sent iFixIt a proposal to complete the Fast Start project for repairing the Whirlpool GD5SHAXKQ00 refrigerator unit. Once iFixIt approved it, I consulted my dad who taught me the repair and acted as the SME, or Subject Matter Expert, for this project.

I took photos with a Nikon D200 DSLR mounted on l a tripod, following iFixIt’s guidelines to ensure quality photos. For the instructions, I adhered to Plain Language standards, keeping the instructions clear, direct, and understandable for non-professionals in repairs.
